Although the Spheros SW has an impressive line-up of features and technology, and will serve you well in the most demanding situations, it is not a budget alternative to a Stella or a Twin Power! For inshore work and occasional offshore fishing, it is a great low-cost option, but for continuous extreme fishing, for massive tuna, GTs, groupers or sharks, you will get better service from one of the more expensive models. That said, for anglers who are often travelling or on holiday and want to build their tropical set-up, the larger sizes are an ideal choice with an excellent price-quality ratio.

The Spheros is a practical reel that performs far beyond its price point. With an aluminium HAGANE body, this is a very durable reel. The HAGANE Gear and X-SHIP combination is further enhanced with InfinityDrive to provide plenty of torque and cranking power. And it has X-Protect water protection (IPX8) to keep water out of important moving parts. However, the drag does not have the same power as its more expensive siblings, and there are fewer ball bearings positioned around the build. That said, the Spheros is a great choice backed by Shimano's reputation for high quality.
